Drift — Last updated February 2025
Drift is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app operates entirely on your device. No personal data is collected, transmitted, or shared with anyone.
Drift requests microphone access solely to record audio samples for granular playback within the app. Audio is captured, processed, and stored locally on your device. Recordings never leave your device and are not uploaded to any server.
Drift uses Apple's on-device SoundAnalysis framework to automatically name your recordings (e.g. "speech", "guitar"). This classification runs entirely on your device using Apple's built-in machine learning model. No audio data is sent to any external service.
All recordings are saved as local files on your device. App preferences (such as onboarding hint status) are stored in local UserDefaults. No data is stored in the cloud or on remote servers.
Drift does not include any analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, advertising frameworks, or third-party code that collects user data. There are no accounts, no sign-ins, and no telemetry.
Drift does not use any third-party services. The app has zero network dependencies and functions fully offline.
Drift does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
